Synthesis, and Characterization of Pentacyclic Thiazolidinedione

Dardaa Aziz Ibrahim, Hanaa Kaain Salih

Abstract

This study involves the synthesis of Pentacyclic Thiazolidinedione Derivatives (B1-B7)‎ through the reaction of 1 mole ‎of ‎‎Schiff bases with 1 mole of thioglycolic acid, dissolved in absolute ethanol. The ‎validity of the compound structures was ‎confirmed using physical and spectroscopic methods such as infrared ‎spectroscopy, proton ‎nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and Mass spectrum. Additionally, melting points and purity were ‎determined, and reaction ‎progress was monitored by Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC).
