Abstract

The spread of artificial intelligence across all spheres of human activity has brought significant transformations to education. In the field of English language teaching, AI-based systems are changing traditional methods by enabling adaptive learning, automated assessment, and real-time communication practice. This paper explores the methodological basis for using artificial intelligence in teaching English and examines how it contributes to developing communicative competence. The analysis demonstrates that AI creates opportunities for individualized learning, interactive communication, and authentic language exposure, while also posing new pedagogical and ethical challenges. The integration of intelligent systems into teaching practice can enhance learners’ linguistic proficiency, critical thinking, and cultural awareness when applied with appropriate methodological guidance.
